IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE
We've had the first of our annual viewings of 'It's a wonderful Life' this week (this and 'the Bishop's Wife' are essential to the season in our home!). I just love It's a Wonderful Life - I remember my impressions of it as a little girl, it has been one of the major shaping influences in my life. The message of 'you may never get your dreams fulfilled but living in obscurity, plodding away at the ordinary, is more important than you could ever imagine' is a concept I have thought of countless times over the years. And of course, the vital message about eternity is never alluded to in the film, though I am sure that it is assumed underneath because of the prevailing Christian worldview of the culture it was first presented to.
