Recent thoughts have been grappling with the concept of 'what is the church' - largely in the context of where Victoria fits in. Discussing it with a friend who is the mother of a lad with autism, has been very helpful and has led us to considering writing a book. I even have an editor lined up (Ron's nephew's wife who has recently been blessing us with her company during the week - along with her little baby) so we'll begin to try and formulate ideas about the place of children in the church.
I've been reading an excellent book about Thomas Cranmer - giving me background on the book of common prayer. another book called 'kindred spirits' about building a relationship with a daughter has been challenging. I've not read anything 'lightweight' for a while, I must be due for a novel. Also have been reading 'Reforming Marriage' - on the whole an excellent book - certainly a good deal better than anything which was on the market back when I got married.
thoughts about the importance of real relationships with other Christians and their necessity to even stay spiritually alive, leave alone GROW. Most of my growing has been done via books and audio messages, the time has come for some real friends in my life, and not just ocassional and long-distance ones - though that's a bit scary...
