death

I've just seen on the BBC a report about a man who has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing his 11-year-old daughter.

Doesn't anyone see the hypocrisy of a statement like this :

<
"Sentencing, Judge Gullick said: "Rebecca was your daughter, your only child.
"She was just 11 years old and she was entitled to expect you would care for her and protect her and would not take her life when she was asleep.
"She was tucked up in her bed in a place she regarded as her home.
"No doubt, in her mind, a very safe place indeed."  >

11 years earlier his wife could have requested a doctor to destroy this child's life while she was still in utero - a place which might reasonably be considered to have been the safest place for a child.    Why does our society get so worked up about this murder when so many thousands of others go on, at tax payers expense, up and down the country in our hospitals every year??

Let's pray that this poor man, and his wife come to know the peace of God which passes understanding through prison ministry and others who will show the love of Christ to them in their sadness.
