Schaeffers...
Still listening to the Jerram Barrs series on the Schaeffers, downloaded from covenant seminary worldwide. Over the past 24 hours I have been forced to try and get my head round neo-orthodoxy (and that with a threatening migraine....) so that has been a bit tough. One point which has come out recently was that although we know Francis Schaeffer as a man who communicated with intellectuals, he was also very concerned about children - while he was the pastor of one church he visited and worked with a couple of little chaps with down syndrome seeing them as important in the eyes of the Lord. There can't be many men with his brain capacity who was concerned so profoundly for the simple souls too. Not reading any more of Augustine just now but might take it on the canoe-building weekend during a good portion of which I plan to sit by the river and listen to it flowing by (I think there are trains which flow by from time to time too on the adjacent railway). My brain needs a bit of space, it is getting dreadfully clogged up and the 4 hour drive to Manchester and the same back, were very taxing.

now a toilet and shower unit are under construction there may soon come a time when we can come down - but prob. too late for the blossom, alas.
Yes, we bought the canoe - the challenge will be to see if we can sail it from the farm to the Tone! Personally I prefer the stability of a rowing boat but that would be harder to get along the stream.
