James went to Windsor, we ate sandwiches on a bench beside the Thames where someone had left a bunch of beautiful flowers, fed the ducks, finally tracked down a boat-ride in Windsor after parking in the most expensive carpark in the town! On the way back we returned to the park where James perfected the technique for riding on the corkscrew pictured!
Lucy's wasn't strictly a day out - it was the trip back to Leicester and she needed a 'passport photo' which we got printed at asda - 6 pics for 65p!. Though earlier in the week she had an outing to the outlet at Street - maybe I should have taken a photo there...
Thomas wanted to row me along a river - we went to Guildford where I had (over 20 years ago) rowed myself with a bunch of friends from army days - I even had a go at rowing.Joanna and I had a delightful day (and some bonus cuddles while watching ripples in the water) at Claremont lake where we discovered a new walk which looks like it is freshly cleared - it will be fun to watch it greening up as stuff is planted there over coming years.

Richard's outing was to Wisley gardens - we got there bright and early and enjoyed the late summer flowers (and the coffee and walnut cake!)
Simon's outing was to Brooklands museum where Simon (it must be his bright smiley face that does it!) was offered the opportunity to variously sit in a formula one racing car, a DC 10 (where he learnt how to extinguish an engine fire!), and sit in a harrier. It was so much fun that I bought family membership so we can go with the others in future.Of course, for all this I am indebted to Becky who so capably looked after the house and the rest of the children while we went on our jaunts. There were even some trips where I left Victoria (like the rowing boat one!). Samuel's outing didn't lend itself to photography because of the curved perspex which surrounds the ice-rink - he took Becky along too - who is, predictably, expert at ice-skating.
