Back to those questions about Job. He was like Jesus because he was a spotless sacrifice, as a king (who else would have so much of this world's goods?) he suffered for the benefit of his people clearly demonstrating God to be just. In Job's 'resurrection' he was blessed with abundant goods and a whole load more children - his daughters being remarkable for their beauty. As far as Joseph was a type of Christ (suffering unjustly and giving God the glory), Job was like Joseph too.

Only yesterday I was talking to a lady who is desperately seeking peace and cannot accept the 'pat' answers we offer in the face of difficulties - the 'problem of evil' is an old one. Job and Joseph both show that the only honest and faithful way of dealing with trials is to look to God who is the one who deals kindly with His people, growing and transforming them wonderfully through dreadful circumstances. I can see how it looks like 'brainwashing' to unbelievers, however, they are not exactly 'better off' even by their own standards. And there's always the matter of what comes next...
