Winning
I've had a fun afternoon watching the ladies Wimbledon finals. The match between the Williams was very entertaining. The juniors was nail-biting. I speak as someone who is interested in watching no sport beside Wimbledon (and I've seen not much more than 6 hours this year). It struck me that if we had known, before we began watching, that Robson was going to win, we'd not have given up hope part way through that second set. Now, isn't THAT what life appears to us, so often. We have only to remind ourselves, hourly, that we are on the winning side and when it seems like we are losing, badly, we can place our confidence in God, by faith. Robson, perhaps, had to put her faith in her game, on her previous experience (though at 14 she can't have MUCH of that!) or on the words her coach has spoken and which she remembered.

John Piper said this mng. that those who come to God must believe two things - one that He exists, and the other that He rewards all those who seek Him. Better than the large carved golden plate which is held aloft before 15,000 people and countless TV viewers, is OUR reward - we will have God, He will reward us with Himself - what more could a heart desire?
