Happy New Year everyone. I'm glad to see that it isn't white and sparkly outside THIS mng - after a couple of days where it hasn't been above freezing, it makes a change. I just finished Charles Williams' 'Many Dimensions' - I wish he were a bit more clear-cut about the difference between 'Allah' and the One-True-and-Living God. The pictures he paints of God being the source of unspeakable delight to those who love Him and unspeakable pain to those who seek to use or control (rather than submit to and worship) Him are the main things I shall remember from the book. Here again (as with the last one I read) the END is death. One kind of hoped, since the protagonist was a woman, that the end would be marriage - but it wasn't. It was the right end for the story though. If our life is a preparation to live with God for ever, then death IS an appropriate end. I guess the kind of story where there is to be a picture of completeness in this life on a larger scale, marriage is fitting.
Speaking of marriage, plans are going forward for Becky and Philip. They are in Switzerland now sorting out the details. Hopefully the wedding will be in July. I told them that I don't under any circumstances, want any side-ways-on pictures since (if all continues well) I shall be about 40 weeks pregnant by that point in history..... (and no, I'm not planning to travel to Switzerland...)
