Here's Philip and Becky on the 25th of July 2009. A very happy day (apart from the discovery that a black bag from the kitchen which had been filled with kitchen equipment from home had been later that day tossed on the fire with all the bags of rubbish!) and fantastic weather.
Here's a picture I took of my boys - what a fine looking lot they are too!
and finally me on holiday near Penzance - my life often feels like it is a rocky place - I did have to try hard to find somewhere flat-ish to rest and had a tricky time trying to get down from here.

For the rest of life - well it's full of niggling trials with which I am failing to do what I ought (ie counting it all joy) such as mess, headaches, parking tickets, mess, damaged caused to other vehicles by my incompetence, mess, disease on the roses, mess, headache, neckache, mess, expense in trying to get rid of headache and neckache, mess, etc In the words of squire Hamley in Wives and Daughters 'it's harder to be resigned than happy people think...' - though the Lord requires, somehow, more than resignation - it's beyond ME.

the Thomas Cranmer bio. I'm ploughing through is fascinating stuff - I read this mng about an early 'radical' who was burnt at the stake for heresy - part of the case against him was that he denied infant baptism (!!!) - the case against Lambert was overseen by King Henry the VIII himself and heresy was considered a serious business affecting the nation so was dealt with most severely. One can't help wondering what Henry and Thomas and the rest might make of the kind of trivia the UK Parliament busy themselves with now on the grounds of the 'good of the nation'!
