like the buses in Manchester weddings are cropping upall at once in our house. Though it took 6 years to aquire them the first 3 children are to be married within a year of one another (actually nearer 9 months!) with Timothy's wedding in December and Lucy's looking set to be Easter.
In addition to this we have a lodger who just got engaged on Saturday! Must be something in the air...
I recommend Robert Burns' 'ode to a field mouse' The poet is sympathising with a hard-working mouse whose house has been damaged irreparably. The lines 'the best laid shemes o' mice an' men, gang aft a-gley' now have gained a deeper meaning having read them in their original context. The final verse is:

Still thou art blest, compared wi' me!
The present only toucheth thee;
But oh! I backward cast my e'e
On prospects drear!
An' forward, tho' I canna see,
I guess an' fear!

Oh to be more like a mouse......
