I DID think though (after meeting a friend of my Dad's who immediately did a trick with a 10p piece for the amusement of the younger boys) that when I was a child I met men who took an interest in children and who still remembered what it was like to be a child. THey delighted in making pennies (or ball of dough) 'roll up one sleeve, across the shoulders and down the other sleeve of their jacket'. This one had a 10p go in to his ear and out of his nose!! It is a crying shame that we are all so jolly suspicious of 'men who take in interest in children' and go along (even passively) with the liberal agenda to increasingly fragment society, making us suspicous of relationships which could inestimably enrich the experience of our children. We think it is 'safer' for them to be in the house, watching TV - or even visiting 'friends' doing likewise. I think there IS a real problem in some relationships (they are not always as pure as they ought to be) but it is because my father's generation, enjoying the benefits of the Christian Worldview imparted to them while they were young, have failed to acknowledge the importance of it and are seeking their own pleasure. STrange it is to hear ones father condemn an outrage (which truly IS an outrage in the eyes of the Almighty) whilst knowing that another particular kind of outrage (homosexuality for example)has come to be tolerated. Maybe in time what some men do to some baby girls will also come to be tolerated. I am certainly glad to know that the Lord is in control and look forward, in confidence, to the future when the wicked will have destroyed themselves by their wicked deeds.
I enjoyed spending a couple of days with my mother (never thought I would live to say that!) and observed her criticism of those from whom my acts of courtesy on the road there was no appropriate token of gratitude! I wish I could point out that the Lord who gives her every breath is much more worthy of HER gratitude than I am of that of another driver.
