Heading off to Manchester on Sunday - there are a scary amount of things to do before then but my little 'windows' of sitting by the pump will be useful for making lists of things not to forget. Some of us will be staying in my Dad's house - strange to think that I will be in my 'own' bedroom where I used to play with my dollies, with three little ones of my own..... Others will be in an a tent in the garden and David gets to stay in the camper-van. There are a host of folks we would like to visit as well as some interesting places - such as quarry bank mill (some of the younger ones haven't been there in living memory), and the museum of science and industry.
We've been practicing a 3-part version of 'Linden Lea' which (providing the 'firsts' manage to stay in tune!!) sounds quite presentable and therefore we shall present it for (unsuspecting!) reletives!
I'm resigned to forgetting SOMETHING - only hoping it won't be too important...
Following on from my thoughts about land recently I was encouraged to hear more from Rushdoony on the matter. As the rubbish-van drove into our drive to turn round (again) and the children protested (again) I told them that 'the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof' - the council workers may behave as though they have a right to turn round in our drive, they are mistaken. We may behave as though we have sovereign rights over our drive, but we don't. Silly to act as though we own it really, we could be dead tommorow and the drive will still be here. Rushdoony pointed out that only a profound respect for God in regard to land ownership will enable us to deal with land in the right way. Having been informed that a field at our new farm in Taunton has been used, in time past, as a landfill site, I am annoyed because it is the Lord's land - throwing rubbish into the ground is to pollute it and since it is the Lord's we ought not to do it. Perhaps, being neighbours to a landfill site we might be more thoughtful about what we throw in our bins - since it is destined to be deposited in someone elses 'backyard'....
Finally, can't help feeling sorry for Ezekiel - could be that he was the only good chap around and yet he had to model the sins of Israel by way of a 'visual aid' from the Lord. Being the most righteous person around, in those days, seems to have been potentially uncomfortable in the extreme....
