It's often very good not to know how bad things WERE until they are not so bad any more. Ron has been on antibiotics 4 times a day for almost 2 weeks because the condition of his blood suggested it was necessary (ie he was in a very bad way!). The nurse who did the dose this evening said that she thought he needed them until the 23rd!!! If that were the case they would put in a more permanent line and a district nurse would come and do them. Lets hope that won't be necessary because we've booked to go to Messiah at the royal Albert Hall on the 22nd. Ron is patiently waiting for the Doctor to come and assess him and tell him if he can go home. Meanwhile he doesn't sleep well because of trouble with other patients of one sort or another which necessitates the turning on of lights at various points throughout the night. He looked longingly at the empty corridor and wondered whether he could bring his bedding out and settle for the night in one of the laundry cages..... He asked me to take in a family photo because the male nurse who was on last night and the night before asked him if he had one.

It is funny that you mentioned district nurse, as that is what I was going to suggest. I know you would prefer not to have a more permanent line, but at least Ron could get more sleep at home and better nutrition than the hospital offers! He would have to guard against the temptation of being too active though! Our prayers are with you all.
