In true midwife style (it seems!) Lucy's been through the mill and ended up with an emergency c-section when the baby was in distress - though the distress was not quickly over as it took 10 minutes to get him back up and out. Josiah Simeon Hutton was born at 3.37 this morning and weighs approx 7.lb 15oz. He's on NICU being closely monitored. As yet he's not had any milk though the lady looking after him seems supportive of Lucy's desire to breastfeed as soon as poss. the staff took a photo of Josiah and while Lucy had a little snooze I took the photo over to Ron and asked the staff there if I could just show him the picture (even though visiting is not until 3pm). He was looking much better this morning and I'll find out more shortly. I'll be taking Richard and Joanna to see ron later (well, in about an hour actually....) - maybe they will walk back and I'll stay up there and visit Lucy again.
It's lovely to see how much the staff appreciate Lucy - I've lost count of how many people came and said hello and rejoiced with her over the picture of her darling little boy. I've got a picture but it's not a very good one - I hope to be able to get one later and as soon as I have, I'll post it here.
I'm going to take my knitting pattern this afternoon as I'm sure I've gone as far as I needed to on the back and sides of the pink matinee jacket I'm on!

Congratulations on being a nanny/granny for the first time! Praise God that Josiah is now with you all. we are praying that he wont need to be in NICU for long and that Lucy will soon be able to mother him and breast feed him. Perhaps the pink matinee jacket will be useful next time! Are you taking blue to the hospital? Tell Lucy we are praying for them and rejoice with her too. Sorry to read about Ron's problems and hope that he will make a quicker than expected recovery. God bless you all. Karen
Our love to Lucy, Ben and Josiah - may he make a speedy and complete recovery!
Congratulations!! Fantastic news. May God bless you all at this time.
